Editing & Saving Pages

Any logged-in user with the Editor role or higher can edit page content.

Opening the editor

Click the pencil icon in the page toolbar while viewing a page. The content area switches to edit mode, showing the title field, description field, WYSIWYG editor, and additional options.

Fields

  • Title — the page name shown in the navigation and at the top of the content area.
  • Description — a short summary used by search engines and shown in search results. Keep it under 160 characters.
  • Content — the main body, edited using the WYSIWYG editor. See The WYSIWYG Editor.

Saving

Click Save to store your changes. A revision is created automatically if revisions are enabled. The modified date and author are updated.

If you navigate away from an open editor without saving, a warning is shown. Confirm to discard changes or cancel to return to the editor.

Silent save

The editor performs a background auto-save of the content field only, without updating the modified date or creating a revision. This protects against accidental loss from browser crashes.

Editors and the review workflow

If the review process is enabled, saving a page as an Editor automatically sets its workflow status to In Review. A Contributor or Admin must then approve and publish it. See The Review Process.

Scheduled publishing

Contributors and Admins can set a Publish at and/or Expire at date and time. The page will be automatically activated or deactivated by the scheduler. See Scheduled Publishing.
