Linking to Files

Guidevera uses ID-based file links in the format /downloads/{id}/filename. These links never break when a file is renamed or moved to a different folder.

Inserting a file link in the editor

In the editor, click the Link button in the Insert group of the toolbar. The link dialog opens. Click Browse files & pages to open the file browser. Select any file — its stable download URL is filled into the URL field automatically. Add a display text and confirm.

What the file browser shows

The file browser displays your full folder structure on the left and the files within the selected folder on the right. Click a file to select it and insert its link. The browser is filtered by media type when opened from the image or video dialogs (images only, or videos only).

Download behaviour

Each file has a configurable display mode: inline (opens in the browser if the format supports it) or download (forces a download prompt). This is set per file in the file manager.

Usage tracking

The file manager tracks which pages reference each file. If you try to delete a file that is still linked from a page, a warning is shown.
