The Review Process

The review process is an optional four-stage workflow that controls how pages move from draft to publication. It must be enabled via enableReviewProcess in the application settings.

Workflow stages

  • Draft — the page is being written. Not yet submitted for review.
  • In Review — the page has been submitted and is waiting for a reviewer's decision. Saving a page as an Editor automatically sets this status.
  • Published — the page has been approved by a Contributor or Admin. Approving a page also sets its visibility to Active automatically.
  • Archived — the page is no longer current but is kept for reference.

Who can do what

  • Editors can move a page between Draft and In Review only.
  • Contributors and Admins can set any workflow status, including Published and Archived.

Review queue

Pages with the status In Review appear in the review queue, accessible to Contributors and Admins from the Dashboard. The queue shows the page title, last editor, and modification date.

Review decisions

Three decisions are possible when reviewing a page:

  • Approved — the page is published and set to Active.
  • Changes requested — the page stays In Review; the editor is expected to revise it.
  • Rejected — the page is moved back to Draft. A comment is required when rejecting.

When the review process is disabled

All pages use the Published workflow status by default. The workflow controls are not shown to any user. Pages are published as soon as they are saved and activated.
