Understanding the Interface
The Guidevera interface consists of three main areas: the sidebar, the toolbar, and the content area.
Sidebar
The left-hand sidebar displays the full page tree. Click any entry to navigate to that page. Folders (pages with children) can be expanded and collapsed by clicking the folder icon next to them. The sidebar width can be adjusted by dragging the handle on its right edge — the width is saved automatically.
On mobile devices the sidebar is hidden by default and can be opened using the menu button in the top bar.
Top toolbar
The toolbar at the top of the screen contains:
- Application name / logo — click to return to the start page.
- Search — full-text search across all active pages. See Using Full-Text Search.
- A- / A+ — decrease or increase the font size. The setting is remembered across sessions (if enabled).
- Dark mode toggle — switches between light and dark theme. Follows your system preference by default (if enabled).
- Login / user menu — sign in as a guest, or access your profile and logout as a logged-in user.
Content area
The right-hand area displays the currently selected page. At the top you will find the page toolbar with actions such as Edit, Copy link, and Print (depending on your role and configuration). Below that, the page title and content are shown, followed by optional elements such as tags, related pages, a feedback widget, and previous/next navigation links.
Page actions toolbar
When viewing a page while logged in, additional action icons appear above the content:
- Edit (pencil icon) — opens the page in the editor.
- Copy link (chain icon) — copies a direct URL to the page to your clipboard. This button is only shown to guests; logged-in users can copy the URL directly from the browser address bar.
- The Publish/Unpublish toggle (eye icon) — visible to Contributors and Admins in page view. Click to toggle the page between active and inactive.
- Print (printer icon) — opens a print-optimised view (if enabled).
